The Statistic Nobody Talks About
Of every 100 family farms that exist today, only 30 will survive to the second generation. Twelve will make it to the third. Three will reach the fourth.
The fifth generation? There isn't even a statistic for that. So few farms ever get there, nobody's bothered to count.
We think about those numbers a lot.
We're Jerald, Jadie, and Joah — the founders of Bar J Farms.
We're fourth-generation farmers. Our great-grandparents worked this land. Our grandparents worked this land. Our parents worked this land. And somewhere along the way, we made a quiet decision: we were not going to be the generation that let it end.
Family farms don't disappear because families stop caring. They disappear because the economics stop working. So we made a change — we started selling our beef directly to families like yours.
Because the families sitting down to dinner deserve to know where their food came from. And because we needed to build something sustainable enough to still be standing when the next generation is ready to take over.
Four generations taught us that shortcuts have a way of catching up with you. So we do things one way — the right way — whether it's going on our table or yours. Same standards, same care, no exceptions.
Welcome to Bar J Farms. We're glad you're here.
